I was raised in Atlanta, GA and earned my B.A. in English and Psychology from Vanderbilt University. After spending 21 years in sales and marketing, I started teaching at SLA in 2005. (This year, my years spent teaching will exceed those spent in the private sector!) It has been a joy to watch the school thrive!
I am certified in Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum, Math 6-12, Gifted, ESE, Reading, and ESOL. Over the years, I have taught all academic subjects, sometimes 4 at a time. I am thrilled to be able to focus on 8th Grade English/Language Arts and 7th Grade Advanced Civics this year.
I fully support the mission of SLA - scholarship, leadership, and service. It is my goal for students to leave SLA with a lifelong love of learning and serving others!
My husband Dave served Venice as a Police Officer for over 3 decades and recently retired. Our son Ashton is a mechanical engineer for Lockheed Martin and lives in Richmond, KY. Our son Nathan, daughter-in-law Sarah, and granddaughters Sadie (15), Aubrie (13), and Josie (9) live in Woodstock, GA. After empty nesting for 10 years, we recently moved my father into our home.
Most of my spare time in recent years has been spent caring for my aging parents. As often as I can, I enjoy volunteering at my church and in the community, visiting my children and grandchildren, travelling, and reading.
